Sales Terms

  • Payment to The Mineralogical Society of America may be made by check (in U.S. dollars drawn on a U.S. bank with electronically processable routing and account numbers printed on the check), money order, UNESCO coupons, or Visa, Mastercard, Discover, or American Express credit cards. MSA cannot be responsible for cash sent through the mail.
  • If you remit by bank check, overseas money order, or some other indirect or electronic funds transfer, send a separate notice to the Business Office about your order. Do not rely on the banks to do this. They will not. Tell us what the money is for, date and form of payment being sent, and originating bank. Please include your name and any MSA invoice or account number in the bank transfer advice so that we will be able to recognize your payment. Make these the VERY FIRST pieces of information in the advice field! Banks often have a limited number of characters that can be included in this field. MSA will not accept any transfers that do not equal the amount due. This means that you must prepay any fees, otherwise the bank or any third party corresponding bank will subtract them from your remittance. The best way to accomplish this is to instruct your bank that MSA must receive a certain dollar amount figure, not that you wish to send a certain dollar amount. If you do not prepay the fees, or your bank cannot transfer directly, please add US$30.00 to the amount of your invoice to cover these bank fees.   • Orders under $500 must be prepaid. Orders over $500 can be invoiced if you have established credit with us. Pro Forma invoices can be sent if needed. The order will not be shipped until payment is received.
  • There are no consignment shipments.
  • You will be given 2-3 choices of the method and the costs of shipping your order depending on the shipping address you have entered. Please notice the estimated shipping times, whether or not there is tracking capabilities, and the cost when you place your order. The method of shipping cannot be changed once your order is shipped. Contact the MSA Business Office if you need to use your own shipping account. Contact information is given to the left.
  • If you require a special custom declaration for a shipment, please indicate this in your order and the information or paperwork you require.
  • Damaged or defective items may be returned for replacement at no charge. MSA does not accept returns for other reasons. Claims for replacement copies will be honored if the request is received within 120 days of the order date for books and within 120 days of the mailing date of the journal. An issue of the journal is generally mailed the month of its cover date. If we begin to record an excessive number of claims for an account, we will request that the correctness of the mailing address and the receiving procedures be checked and verified. If losses continue at a high rate after that, then, for any future claims for the same issues, replacements will not be sent until a more secure address is provided to us. If the same address is to be used, we will ask for payment for any claim issues sent to it.
